The season 2015/16 saw the Old Lyonian Football Club play at their new home ground, the John Lyon School playing fields. A new pavilion, excellent changing facilities, top grade playing surfaces, a well stocked bar and wonderful catering made their ground a firm favourite with the opposition and referees.

With five teams playing in the Southern Amateur Football League it was a busy season for all concerned.

The Southern Amateur League (SAL) is an association football league affiliated to the Amateur Football Alliance (AFA). It is based in and around Greater London and caters for 11–a–side men's adult teams. Its member clubs include former pupils' associations, banks and business houses as well as private clubs

OLFC 4s playing in the Minor Division 2 North: Staying in this division to face fellow clubmates during 2016/17 season.

OLFC 5s playing in the Minor Division 4 North: The end of the season will see the 5s remaining in this division for the 2016/17 season.

Old Lyonians FC awarded Wilkinson Sword Award for 2015/2016 Season

This award is voted for by the Southern Amateur League management committee and member clubs and is only awarded to one club of the hundreds playing in the SAL.

This is a great achievement and a reflection of all the hard work done by the Chairman, captains, players and the club fixture secretary.

The club was judged on the following criteria:

  • Fair play
  • Discipline
  • Attitude towards officials and other players
  • Hospitality both home and away
  • The club house and facilities
  • The pitches
  • The club as a whole and match day management
  • The efficiency and professionalism of fixture management including prompt responses to the league and other clubs and submission of accurate team sheets.
  • The respect and hospitality shown by captains to officials and opposition teams

This is an award to the club and all its members and to win by 1 vote beating Old Parkonians is an excellent achievement in the OLFC's first season at its new home of the Lyonian Pavilion on the John Lyon School playing fields.

The ambition now is to retain this award for the 2016/2017 season.

Congratulations to all involved in winning this award.
