We have enjoyed another successful season with a number of events and matches taking place between May and October and have welcomed several new members of all ages to the fold which is our major priority.

In May we played The School at Stanmore and enjoyed a narrow victory playing for The President's Cup. This was followed by our annual Spring Meeting at Northwood Golf Club where traditionally we play Foursomes in the morning followed by singles in the afternoon where we have prizes for the best Stableford score and the best Medal round winners. The morning winners (Captain's Cup) were David Jacks and Martin Crossley and the afternoon winners were Ross Chiese with the best Stableford score of 43 points (The Northwood Cup) and the best medal score was by Sam Kotch (a recurring theme here throughout the year) winning The President's Cup.

May is a busy month for the Society and shortly after the Spring Meeting we played our annual triangular match at Moor Park against Old Haberdashers and Old Millhillians and for the fourth year running we were triumphant, albeit by a narrow margin this time round.

At the end of the month we made our annual pilgrimage to Denham Golf Club to try to qualify for The Grafton Morrish finals and despite Sam Kotch with Simon Bird recording the second best score of the day, we were not successful.  So back to the drawing board!

In June we narrowly lost to Old Canfordians in our annual match at Denham but returned to form in July when we made our now regular visit to the Dorset coast for our fixture with Lyme Regis Golf Club and narrowly won the fixture for the first time, and no disappointing fog this year!!

Our year was rounded off with The Autumn meeting at Stanmore Golf Club at the end of September, where Sam Kotch comfortably retained Mike’s Mug for the best Medal Score and William Davies won The Cambell/Paines trophy for the best Stableford round.

Early October saw our annual overnight trip take to Farleigh Golf Club and Selsdon Park where a number of trophies were competed for.  Best Medal golfer over the two rounds was again Sam Kotch who took the JEK Clarke Salver and Robert Palmer prevailed to win the overall stableford score prize and take The Kerridge Trophy.  David Whiskerd won The Jonathon Jones Trophy for the best score on Friday and Steve Martin took The Saturday Salver with the best score on Saturday.

If you would like to come and play, all Lyonians of all golfing ability are welcome.  Our matches are friendly NOT elitist and players of all ages and handicaps take part.
